Andros Darryl
Townsend was born on the 16 July 1991 in Leytonstone, London. He grew up in the
Tottenham Hotspur’s academy; after several loans (Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient,
Milton Keyness Dons, Ipswich Town, Watford, Millwall, Leeds United, Birmingham
City and QPR) he gained the Spurs’ first team place and at the moment he’s also
involved in the England National team for the FIFA World Cup 2014 selected by
Roy Hodgson. He scored his first goal for England during the last World Cup
qualifiers’ match against Montenegro, with a brilliant swerve from outside the
penalty area; he was also named "man of the match".
Townsend went
on loan to Yeovil Town in March 2009 and he scored one goal for his squad; then,
he went to Leyton Orient for a month-loan and he was seen to score a fantastic
goal against his last team Yeovil. He finished his loan at Yeovil and then he
returned to Tottenham. After the unfortunate experience at Milton Keyness Dons owing
to an injury, in summer 2010 he signed for Ipswich Town and he scored his first
goal during the match against Swansea City; then he return to Tottenham before
the end of the regular loan. In fact, the Spurs’ manager thought he had not
been playing enough. He scored his first goal at White Hart Lane on 9 Jenuary
2011, in the FA Cup match against Charlton Athletic. After he joined Watford for
a month-loan, Townsend signed for Millwall and he remained there until the end
of the season, scoring 2 goals, one of which from 20 yeards out. After another
3 loans (1, 0 and 2 goals scored) he has just taken up his season with Spurs as
one of the most important footballers in the Villas Boas’ team, among with the
new arrivals Eriksen, Lamela and Soldado. Very skillful, Andros Townsend is expected
to have a bright future.
